There are a few must-see shows at Christmas. Who doesn’t look forward to watching It’s a Wonderful Life again, or tuning in to A Christmas Story for the 14th time.

There is just something about those shows that puts you in the holiday spirit.

Here in Niagara Falls there is another can’t-miss production at this time of year – the annual Christmas show at the Oh Canada Eh! dinner theatre, at 8585 Lundy’s Lane. They put on great shows there all year round, a lively mix of good music and comedy with a wonderful meal too, in a comfortable, informal setting. It gets a little more special this time of year, though. This year, their production is called An Out of This World Christmas, running until Dec. 21. If past success is any measure, this is a show not to be missed. It features all your favourite Christmas songs, carols and the usual helping of laughs and dancing with that familiar Canadian tone. Show tickets are available with or without the meal. But the meal sounds so good. Soup and salad to start, then fried haddock, maple glazed ham, oven-roasted turkey with potatoes and vegetables. Then some cake, hot tea and coffee.

There’s no denying, outside it can snow all it wants and the temperatures can drop below zero (and they will).

Ice can form in the trees and it’ll be dark before you’re done your supper. But nothing quite stirs those Christmas feelings like hearing carols and traditional songs we all love so much.
Also running at Oh Canada Eh! until Dec. 17 is another play with a Christmas theme, called A Very Merry Mystery.
It’s a whodunit with a holiday theme and the usual mix of music, laughs and dancing. Again, tickets are available with or without the meal.

And if you choose to take in one of the shows without the meal, don’t fret – you’re on Lundy’s Lane.

All around you, there are more restaurants than you can shake a stick at, offering a diverse lineup of fine dining, casual eating or a meal in a pub setting that is so relaxing.

You won’t have to travel far at all to find all that.

And even if you do go for the full show and meal plan, stop off at one of the bars or restaurants afterward anyway.
Come on, you’re out on the town. And you’re in Niagara Falls, for Pete’s sake. Live it up!
